Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Orientation
-
Afternoon Arrival: Your journey begins with an introduction to the bush by expert guides, who will brief you on trail safety, environmental respect, and survival basics. You’ll only carry essential gear—sleeping bag, basic provisions, and water—as the emphasis is on traveling lightly.
-
Setting Out: The first hike begins in the late afternoon, with your senses tuning into the sounds, sights, and scents of the bushveld. As you walk, the guide points out various plants, tracks, and wildlife that reveal the hidden stories of the landscape.
-
Camp Setup: As dusk falls, you’ll set up a minimal camp beneath the stars, either near a dry riverbed or a protected thicket. Evenings are spent around a small fire, where you’ll enjoy a simple meal, listen to bush sounds, and absorb stories of African wildlife and local legends.
Day 2: Immersive Bush Trekking and Tracking
-
Early Start: Rising with the sun, you set off into the cool morning, tracking animals and exploring new terrain. Each footstep reveals fresh spoor or marks left by animals the night before.
-
Tracking Wildlife: The guides, skilled trackers like Japie Bradley, teach you the art of reading the bush. You may follow the prints of elephants, the scratch marks of rhinos, or the delicate tracks of smaller creatures.
-
Rest and Reflection: Around midday, you stop in a shaded spot to rest, hydrate, and have a light meal. It’s a time to enjoy the solitude, listen to bird calls, and feel fully immersed in the environment.
-
Evening Camp: You trek to another location to set up camp for the night. Sitting around the fire as the African sunset bathes the landscape in a golden glow, you feel the depth of the wilderness, untouched and wild.
Day 3: Deeper Into the Wild

Exploration of New Terrain: Each day takes you deeper into the bushveld, crossing a variety of landscapes, from rocky outcrops to acacia-dotted plains. Today, you might encounter more game—giraffes, zebras, or possibly a distant rhino.
-
Bush Knowledge: Your guide shares insights on survival in the bush, explaining how indigenous plants can be used for food, medicine, or tools. You may even get a lesson in natural water sources or learn about the bushveld’s intricate ecological balance.
-
Campsite Bonding: The final night in the bush feels special. With just the crackle of the fire and a sky full of stars above, there’s a sense of unity and respect for nature that settles over the group. Stories and reflections from the past few days are shared, with the wild sounds as your backdrop.
